Hummingbird Doppelganger – The Sphinx Moth
When is a hummingbird really a moth? When a sphinx moth tricks you into believing that it is a "baby hummingbird"! But don’t feel bad…you have been fooled by one of best mimics in nature.
At first glance, sphinx moths look and move just like a hummingbird. Their hummingbird shaped body and sharp-pointed wings are instantly deceiving, especially as they fly just like a hummingbird - hovering and zipping from flower to flower sucking up nectar.
Some say it’s not kind to fool Mother Nature, but it is kind of fun when Mother Nature fools us.
