Provide Liquid Water for the Birds this WinterHeated Bird Bath with Mockingbird

As you get your yard ready for fall and winter, remember that all birds need reliable sources of shallow water all year long for bathing and drinking. Of course birds need water to drink, but they also need to bathe even in the winter. Bathing keeps their feathers clean and clean feathers provide better insulation. Providing liquid water is a great way to attract winter species that are not common at bird feeders, such as Varied Thrushes, Townsend's Solitaires, American Robins, and Cedar Waxwings.

If you already have a birdbath, consider adding a drop in de-icer. Both the heated baths and the drop in de-icers have and internal thermostats and turn themselves off when the water is above approximately 35 degrees.

As the freezing temperatures arrive, liquid water sources are a highly sought after by the birds. Add a heated bowl or de-icer now and watch the birds flock.
